Joint Statement from SCUSD and SEIU Regarding Compensation

鶹Ƶ, CA - The 鶹Ƶ City Unified School District (SCUSD) and Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 1021 have reached an agreement to close out contract reopener negotiations for the previous 2022-2023 school year. 

This historic agreement demonstrates the significant value that SCUSD places on retaining and recruiting the finest classified staff to support our students, teachers and facilities. It also ensures that SEIU unit members will be elevated to a salary that is more reflective of their immense value to the District.

Sac City Unified Collecting Winter Jackets for Student Jacket Drive

鶹Ƶ, CA - The 鶹Ƶ City Unified School District is organizing a Jacket Drive for its students most in need. Bring new or gently used jackets for students to help them stay warm this winter. All jacket sizes are welcome for our TK through high school aged students.

Jackets can be donated at the SCUSD Serna Center (5735 47th Ave, 鶹Ƶ) now through Friday, November 17. In the front lobby, donors will find a large blue bin to leave the coats for kids between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Joint Statement from SCUSD and SCTA Regarding Compensation

The 鶹Ƶ City Unified School District and the 鶹Ƶ City Teachers Association have reached an agreement to close out the contract reopener negotiations for the recently completed 2022-2023 school year. This agreement comes one day before students begin the new fall semester and after negotiations resumed earlier this month with a commitment by both the District and SCTA to work in a collaborative manner.

鶹Ƶ City Unified School District Announces Superintendent Transition

鶹Ƶ, CA - The 鶹Ƶ City Unified School Board today announced that Superintendent Jorge A. Aguilar will step down at the end of this month. The search for a new superintendent to lead the District will begin immediately.

Superintendent Aguilar’s last day of service in Sac City Unified (SCUSD) is June 30, 2023. SCUSD Deputy Superintendent Lisa Allen will serve as acting superintendent during the District’s leadership transition.

Sac City Unified Board of Education Votes to Rename Three Schools
New names will be Miwok Middle School, Suy:u Elementary, and Umoja International Academy

鶹Ƶ, CA - As part of Sac City Unified’s commitment to confront and interrupt racism and create safe learning environments that are welcoming, inclusive, and inspiring places for all students and staff, the SCUSD Board of Education voted at the June 22, 2023 meeting to rename three schools as Miwok Middle School (formerly Sutter Middle School), Suy:u Elementary School (formerly Peter Burnett Elementary School), and Umoja International Academy (formerly Kit Carson International Academy).

SCUSD Statement on Response to Shooting at Sikh Temple

鶹Ƶ, CA - The 鶹Ƶ City Unified School District issued the following statement about the District’s support for students, staff and families after the shooting that took place at the Gurdwara 鶹Ƶ Sikh Society on Sunday.

“We stand in solidarity with our Sikh community and condemn the violence that disrupted an event taking place at a house of worship,” said SCUSD Board President Chinua Rhodes. “We are very concerned for our students who may be experiencing trauma as a result of this violence.”

鶹Ƶ, CA – The District is aware of racist material distributed at Kit Carson International Academy today and wants all of our families to know this matter is being handled with the utmost seriousness. Sac City Unified strongly condemns the use of racist language or material and has taken swift disciplinary action against the two students involved. The district is also providing support for students and staff who may have experienced trauma or harm as a result.
